What is World Fair Trade Day?
World Fair Trade Day (WFTD) is celebrated by tens of thousands of people in over one hundred countries, raising awareness of the fair trade principles of economic, social and environmental justice.
For fifteen years, Chicago Fair Trade has organized the largest World Fair Trade Day in the U.S.
This year, Chicago Fair Trade is organizing dozens of events throughout the Chicagoland area. Current and prospective Chicago Fair Trade members will open their doors, inviting the community in to learn more about fair trade, participate in fair trade sales and activities, and showcase the depth and strength of the fair trade community throughout Chicagoland.
About Chicago Fair Trade
Chicago Fair Trade is the largest grassroots fair trade coalition in the United States. We increase support for economic and environmental justice through consumer education, advocacy, and promotion of local fair trade businesses.
We’re proud to be a local and national leader in raising awareness about and building support for fair trade and its principles of environmental sustainability, ethical production methods, fair wages, and safe working conditions.
Chicago Fair Trade’s mission is to cultivate a community dedicated to an economy that values the labor and dignity of all people. Educate. Activate. Celebrate.
