What is World Fair Trade Day?
World Fair Trade Day (WFTD) is celebrated by tens of thousands of people in over one hundred countries, raising awareness of the fair trade principles of economic, social and environmental justice.
For sixteen years, Chicago Fair Trade has organized the largest World Fair Trade Day in the U.S.
This year, Chicago Fair Trade's World Fair Trade Day 2023 celebration will take place in two parts.
In the morning, locations throughout the Chicagoland area will serve free fair trade coffee, fair trade treats, and give visitors a chance to win fair trade prizes.
In the afternoon, from 1:00 pm-7:00 PM, a huge Fair Trade Fest will be held at the recently opened Chicago Fair Trade Museum. The Fest, which is free to attend, will be jam-packed with interactive sessions including fair trade tastings, crafting and gardening demos, interactive talks from experts in the field, and even a Great Fair Trade Bake-Off. All are invited to participate in the bake-off and to come to the Fest!
